How to connect

You sign in with your e-mail. No API keys, no config files. If you have an Umowy.AI account under the same e-mail, the connection links automatically and queries are billed to your plan. Without an account you get 20 trial queries.

  1. Click the button. claude.ai opens the “Add custom connector” dialog pre-filled.
  2. Confirm, click Connect, then sign in with your e-mail.
  3. Ask about a provision. Claude reaches for the database on its own.

Free, Pro and Max plans. On Team and Enterprise an Owner adds the connector (Organization settings → Connectors) and members click Connect. Works in Claude Desktop and the mobile app on the same account.

  1. Open Plugins in the ChatGPT menu, click + and choose Add custom MCP server. On Business and Enterprise an admin enables this option.
  2. Name: Polskie Prawo (Dziennik Ustaw), URL: https://mcp.umowy.ai/mcp, authentication: OAuth.
  3. Confirm, sign in with your e-mail and create the plugin. ChatGPT now sees the database in every conversation.

Plus and Free plans cannot add a custom MCP server today. For them, access will come through the ChatGPT plugin directory, where we are submitting the database. Until then use the database in Claude or directly at app.umowy.ai.

Six tools

What your AI gets

The database does not answer for the model. It gives it a source: the exact text of a provision, its status and publication metadata. The model quotes what it received, and you see where it came from.

search_legal_provisions

Semantic search over provisions and annex rows: “contractual penalties in construction contracts”, “limitation periods for mandate contracts”.

get_article

Full text of an article or paragraph, optionally as in force on a chosen date. When a number matches several acts you get a list to choose from instead of a guess.

check_provision_status

Whether the act is in force per the ELI register, whether the publication is the latest consolidated text, which amendments entered into force after it.

get_related_provisions

Provisions related to a given article: kindred institutions, cross-references, complementary rules.

get_attachment

Annexes: rate tables, lists, form templates, with a flag telling whether row order matches the print.

list_legal_acts

Catalogue of acts in the database with their codes. Does not count towards the query limit.

What the database does, and what it does not

A source, not advice

The database searches and quotes provisions of the Polish Journal of Laws. It does not provide legal advice and does not replace a lawyer. Conclusions are drawn by the model you talk to; responsibility for using them stays with the user.

Read-only

All tools only read the database. The server has no access to your documents, files or conversation history. It receives only the text of the database query.

Data and billing

We store database queries together with the account identifier to meter the limit and improve answer quality. Details in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service (Polish).

Currency

In-force status is checked daily against the ELI register of the Polish Sejm. New consolidated texts enter the database automatically after publication. When the text predates an amendment, the answer carries a warning with the list of changes.

I have an account and a plan, but the database still counts trial queries

Most often the sign-in e-mail in ChatGPT or Claude differs from your Umowy.AI account e-mail. Remove the connector, connect again and sign in with the right address. If the addresses match, write to us.

The model does not use the database although it is connected

In claude.ai check that the connector is enabled in the “+” menu of the conversation. In ChatGPT start a new chat after a long one. In Claude Code type /mcp and check the connection status. You can also ask explicitly: “check this in the legal database”.

Which acts are not in the database?

The list_legal_acts tool returns the catalogue without using your limit. When a provision belongs to an act outside the database, the answer says so instead of substituting another act.
